Another exclusive selection of Brian’s out-takes, these from the back stage card game shoot. There is a shot of Brian himself stood behind Muddy Waters, likely taken by Roger Eagle on Brian’s camera (though he might have waited for him to look up!). The first shot shows Cousin Joe Pleasant, Otis Span and Muddy Waters. Muddy and Roger Eagle are next, and a shot from behind Brownie McGhee – no peeping at the cards. These were all taken backstage at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on May 8th during the American Folk, Blues and Gospel Caravan tour of 1964. There are several more images (of better quality!) in Brian’s book. We don’t know who won the game.
