EASY ON THE EYE BOOK SHOP

Our official online shop is the easiest way to order. This helps keep the business viable. Use the link above or click the graphic.

FROM BOOKSHOPSEasy On The Eye are keen help independent high-street stores survive the onslaught of a certain giant internet seller (who operate by demanding massive discounts from suppliers, treat many of their staff like dirt – stopping the covid bonus mid-pandemic, very nice – and dodge their tax by pretending to be based in Luxembourg). So we would much rather you purchase from a local book shop, who will be glad to order for you if they do not have a title on the shelf – just quote the ISB number for the book.

AVOID AM*ZON at all costs • The harm they have done to the book trade from author through to sales in incalculable (more at the bottom of this page). Not for nothing is the owner now the richest person on the planet. There are good alternatives. Hive Books supply online via UK high street bookshops and donate a small percentage back to help keep them going. I have used this service and it works very well.  Or use Bookshop, who operate a similar scheme with both a UK and US service.  Waterstones don’t seem to want to stock our titles in store, so feel free to badger them to change their minds!  But they can order them for you.

Phone orders • If you are not an online shopper, we can accept credit card / Paypal payment over the phone. Use our details on the Contact page

We supply current titles from stock quickly, pack them properly and ship worldwide. Sales like this help keep publishers going, there’s is a discount for buying direct and if you want we’ll keep you updated on future publications.

SPECIAL EDITIONS – The online store often has associated promotional products such as posters and prints, shirts, signed copies and special editions not available anywhere else.

If you are interested in a title which is not yet on sale, email us via the form on the contact page and we will then be in touch with you when we have a final publication date.

A*az*n

If you order new titles direct from us you will get them BEFORE Amazon (because we handle manufacturing direct with the suppliers in UK and Europe), you will often get a pre-order discount, access to special editions not available elsewhere, and you help keep the business viable!

I’m one of those people who regards Amazon as a company out of control.  Funded by investors for years running at a loss until they managed to stiff most of the online competition, they continue to avoid paying tax by channeling business through iffy countries.  Now they have achieved the domination their long-term business model planned for, they are starting to turn the screw ever harder on suppliers. Their discount demands are already huge (they get over 50% discount off the retail price), and force UP the price of books elsewhere as publishers try to achieve a price which will still cover costs.  This has pushed many into out-sourcing to China – putting UK printers out of business – just to get those lower costs.  And we haven’t even started on how the company treats workers in many of their warehouses. Amazon are teven rying to demand the right to supply digitally printed copies of any title which goes out of stock themselves.

Here’s The Guardian’s take on their tricks.
